This school seeks to provide all pupils with a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum matched to their individual needs. We aim to ensure children will gain knowledge of the world around them and develop a desire to learn more about that world on a wider scale. All teachers will present the subjects; English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, History, Geography, Physical Education, Music, and Art in accordance with the National Curriculum requirements. We have recently adapted the timetable to give more pupils access to specialist P.E. and music.
The children’s schoolwork is frequently supported by educational visits and visitors. We believe that they can provide valuable first hand knowledge to help develop class-based activities. Equally so the immediate environment is used to its fullest potential. During the course of the year pupils will cover the full range of subjects within the National Curriculum, though at different stages of the year there may be a different emphasis (and therefore time) allocated to each curriculum area. Theme days where subjects are developed to their maximum potential often involving outside agencies are also valued.
There is a quiet work area and reference library behind the hall. Adjoining this is the purpose built ICT suite which homes thirty one computers. A new room has recently been added containing an interactive whiteboard for whole class ICT work, however it is more specifically used for performing arts and is time-tabled for music, drama and circle time activities.
